Here I am with Pittsburg Steeler great Rocky Blier, #75. Rocky was injured in Veit Nam and doctors said he would never play again. He came back, made the team and won a super bowl!

Well we just got back from Los Cabos. We road ATV's through the desert, road Wave Runners off of the tip of Mexico, and got real sunburned. A cool place we visited was Cabo Wabo. That is Sammy Hagar's place. Great Vibe, and even better buritto's and tequila.

McDonalds

I just watched a good documentary on obesity in America. It was called Super Size Me. It was a hit at the Sundance Film Festival and was one the reason's McDonalds suposedly stopped Super Sizing meals. I fight daily with my weight, and worry about my kids diet. This movie validated what I felt about fast food in our diet...check it out, I give it 4 stars!

I saw the announcement today of the passing of Johnny Carson from Emphysemia. His show was allways a great diversion for me. God Bless him and his family, he will be missed.

Dachsund

Dachsund's were bred in Germany to hunt badgers. We used ours the othernight to hunt Hamsters. One of my daughters hamsters named Snowflake had gotten out and though we new what part of the room it was in, we could not find it.

We put our 3 year old Dachsund named Jingle on the ground (she was in the bed dying to take a shot) and within 15 seconds she was sniffing at the leg of our treadmill and sure enough the little critter had crawled in side. After some shaking of the treadmill, Snowflake had been recovered and returned to it's (his or her's-we don't know) cage. Jingle is a Hamster-hund (any one know the German word for Hamster?).

Sprawl

If you build it they will come, not! It seems that we upgrade roads after they are needed, not before. In Greenville, SC where I live, Laurens road was recently upgraded to 6 lanes, plus a turning lane. This was to accomidate "Motor Mile" a stretch of car dealers as well as several big box retailers including, K-Mart, Sams, Goodies (I think that is what it is called) and Best Buy. As I was pulling out of Best Buy it occured to me that K-Mart is gone, a hobby store is in its place, Goodies moved somewhere, Wal-Mart and Sams moved to Woodruff road, which only has 4 lanes, plus a turn and now Best Buy is moving accross the intersection of I-385 and Woodruff road. The Sams Club, Goodies, a furniture store and soon Best Buy will all be vacant. Why did we upgrade these roads to just have these retailers move.

The land that Best Buy is building on was owned by John D. Hollingsworth who passed away recently and his trust is unloading his land holdings. So what were large nice trees at the Woodruff/I-385 intersection is now red clay...how does the song go..."They paved paradise and put up a parking lot". So what do we do with the abandoned parking lots, tear them up and put in paradise? or maybe a few more trees?

Waffle House

I just got a call from a friend that wants to meet at the Waffle House. For anyone that hasn't been, I really recommend it. For those that know me I have been struggling with the Low Carb diet for a couple of years. Good news is that WH is Atkins central. I can get eggs, sausage, cheese, etc. and no carbs.

Anyway, my real fascination is how the waitreses comunicate with the cooks and how the cooks "remember" the order. They do this with verbal communication and a "system" that involves no paper or electronics. The cooks get no copy of the ticket. I suggest you go to a WH, sit at the counter and see if you can figure out how they do it....it is fascinating!

Alice Cooper, Gayle and I in the Atlanta Airport. He sat down next to us on his way to Greenville for the BMW Golf Tournament in May. We were on our way back from St. Kitts. He was great to talk to. We talked about golf, Greenville and reality TV. He said that a reality show of his family would be boring. He said the were "milk toast" and that they didn't allow the kids to cuss and they went to church on Sunday. I asked him if "Killer" was still alive, he said he wasn't but that he had a new snake he had toured with some.

Welcome to my ramblings. I have been aware of blogging for over a year now, but have finaly decided to give this a try. As things are on my mind, I plan to come hear and post them.

TIVO .. We just got our Tivo box and with our hectic lifestyle, this is the best tool (toy) we have ever had. It let's us watch TV on our schedule. I had to get a second one because the kids and Gayle kept filling up my 40 hour box. I tend to think Enterprise, 24 and Monster House are more important than anything on the DIY Channel or Animal Planet, but who am I.

Hopefully the second box will let us move things around (as advertised) and my wife can archive some shows she would like.

Well all for now, off to do some post christmas shoppin!
